In this shape what would occur on the sphere itself?

http://www.redbubble.com/people/foodmaster/art/4753441-ball-of-spikes I'm trying to figure out what would happen on the sphere itself if each of the spikes was an electromagnet and the polarity of all the magnets were set negative(or positive) against the sphere. Would the whole sphere turn negative? With enough power would it try to rip itself apart? what would the field inside the magnet look like? Any additional details would be appreciated.Thanks.
