Why does this happen?i haven't talked online in 2 weeks?

I haven't talked onine on xbox live in 2 weeks I decided to stop talking online cus some people are strange on there and sometimes I get tempted to talk online but I don't so how do I ignore the temptation?and I keep my notifications off half the time
