How could Jesus be tempted by Satan with something Jesus knew he already owned?

If he was taken to a high place and was shown kingdoms, the earth, galaxies and the entire universe....how was that a temptation? It's like you taking me in my own backyard and tempting me with one blade of grass in the giant estate I own. I'm just curious. Is Satan a complete idiot? What a dum dum! I knew he was a dum dum!
